En cas d’effondrement, de crise totale, ce ne sont pas les alternatives matérielles à retrouver ou réinventer qui seront le problème majeur, mais la capacité des uns et des autres à entrer dans une authenticité radicale ; à pratiquer les uns envers les autres le renoncement au pouvoir sous toutes ses formes.

Vu sous cet angle, le gigantesque complexe industriel n’est rien d’autre que la sophistication extrême et le développement abouti des moyens utilisés par la domination plurimillénaire qui s’exerce sur la nature et l’humain.

La Machine, qui est certes un problème, n’est donc pas Le problème : elle n’est que la matérialisation finale du problème.

Le problème, ce sont nos faussetés individuelles et collectives, devenues systémiques, et l’épaisseur de notre aveuglement face à nos manquements envers tout ce qui pouvait faire de nous une des plus nobles espèces.

La société du spectacle aura juste été la forme historique réalisée et la caution systémique de cet aveuglement et de ces faussetés.

The Machine, the Spectacle and the immemorial taste for power.

In the event of a collapse, of a total crisis, it is not the material alternatives to be found or reinvented that will be the major problem, but the capacity of each and every one of us to enter into a radical authenticity; to practice the renunciation of power in all its forms towards each other.
Seen from this angle, the gigantic industrial complex is nothing more than the extreme sophistication and the successful development of the means used by the multi-millennial domination of nature and man.
The Machine, which is certainly a problem, is therefore not The Problem: it is only the final materialisation of the problem.
The problem is our individual and collective falsities, which have become systemic, and the depth of our blindness to our shortcomings with regard to everything that could make us one of the noblest species.
The society of the spectacle will have just been the historical form realised and the systemic guarantee of this blindness and these falsities.
